Barks, Bikes & Likes - December, 2024
Fa la la la la la la la last month of the year, make it count!! I encourage you to believe. Believe in the magic and be the magic during a time that tends to bring more stress than joy.
BY NICOLE SALEM, December 9, 2024
Fa la la la la la la la last month of the year, make it count!! I’m already working on our Husky Riding Academy calendar for 2025 and should have that posted online and open for registration at the beginning of February with a go date of April 5th. Woot woot!! Let me know if you don’t have your motorcycle permit yet I can email you the steps to start the process with some study materials. Now is a great time to get that done.
I don’t know if you remember my tale about the caterpillar. I thought of it again just recently when I picked up a 2025 Farmer’s Almanac and lo and behold the first caterpillar I noticed was almost completely brown. Well winter weather folklore from The Old Farmer’s Almanac says the wider the rusty brown sections of a woolly bear caterpillar or the more brown segments there are, the milder the coming winter will be. The more black there is, the more severe the winter. I think we’re due for a cold, snowy one, a real beast coast pounding. What do you think? I can promise you that you’ll notice more woolly bear caterpillars.
Last year I ran the Reindeer Road Race and I was the top fundraiser on the North Shore. The YMCAs reinvested millions in our communities for those who need us most through financial assistance and scholarships. I was considering doing it again this year, but we will be celebrating a milestone birthday for my mother. My brother planned a day in the city and dinner at Maggiano's Boston. Unfortunately, I will not be able to run it this year. I wish all the runners a great race, decent weather, a lot of support and donations.See you next year dear!!
I’m so happy to be running and chasing that runner’s high again. If you know, you know. Steady and slow wins the race. I have to remind myself that often and to trust the process. I’ll be blowing up your feeds if I register for one in December and if not, I will definitely be running in late winter early spring for a cause that’s important to me.It’s an amazing feeling to give back. If you can’t donate, you can still get involved. Share posts, show up and rally runners and riders, word of mouth, every little bit helps. Support those who support you.
I encourage you to believe. Believe in the magic and be the magic during a time that tends to bring more stress than joy. From your 2 favorite, festive mutha fluffas, we’ve had the pawliday tunes cranking for weeks, we wish you all the Christmas miracles no matter what you celebrate and may the scissors glide every time you cut a piece of gift wrap. Santa’s sleigh runs on Christmas spirit; spread cheer, make memories and don’t forget to leave out several bags of duck jerky for Santa Paws (hacked by The Bandit).
I’m so revved for a heathy and prosperous 2025 and wishing you all the same. Keep slaying those goals and resolutions, big or small. I’m routing for everyone. Most importantly I hope you all have someone to kiss at midnight, dogs count too but I really want that When Harry Met Sally New Year’s Eve moment. Slide in my DM’s with yourquestions, comments or suggestions. I’ll be posting toy drives, etc. on the socials all month to help and support those in need. Whatever you’re sleighing in, ride safe & check twice!! Thank you for reading.
Merry Pugmas to all and to all a good night, Bandit & Nicole xoxo
