Frequently Asked Questions
After Taking Our MSF Basic RiderCourse
For Massachusetts Residents:
If you have already had Class M Permit, please make sure you
pay motorcycle endorsement fee
and
have no outstanding balance with the state
. Otherwise, Massachusetts RMV will not issue Class M License.
Motorcycle endorsement fee
is prorated. It depends on how many years you have left on your current driver’s license. It will be $3.00 per year. If your driver’s license is about to expire in a year, it will be $3.00. If you just renewed your driver’s license, it will be $15.00. Its amount will be $3.00, $6.00, $9.00, $12.00, or $15.00.
Outstanding balance
can be property tax, parking ticket, overdue moving violation ticket, etc. Please check with your city, town, and state. We recommend paying and solving the problems as soon as possible. Even you pay it off, it will take times to clear “Non-Renewal Status” in Massachusetts RMV system.
For any reason, if your Class M Permit is not converted to Class M License within 90 days of your MSF BRC completion date, you will have to retake the MSF BRC again or you will have to pass motorcycle road test at Massachusetts RMV.
You can check your license status online in “Access My Profile”,
https://atlas-myrmv.massdot.state.ma.us/myrmv/_/
. You should see “Class DM License”, “Class AM License”, or “Class BM License” depended on type of pervious license you had.
A and B are for CDL. If you have motorcycle license only, it will show “Class M License”.
Please make a copy or take a photo of your MSF BRC completion card and send it to your motorcycle insurance agency. You will probably have 10-15% discount on Collision. Please do not give MSF BRC completion card to your insurance. You will never know when you will have to change your insurance agency or company.
For Other States:
Please bring
Certificate of Completion for an Out of State Basic RiderCourse (BRC)
and
MSF BRC completion card
to your DMV, RMV, or BMV within 90 days to obtain motorcycle license in your state. Please do not give BRC completion card to DMV or RMV.
